Given that, at the time of writing, just after the finish of the 2013 Giro d’Italia, not one SRAM sponsored team has yet made the transition to the 22 groupset or to hydraulic rim brakes, and that the team’s technical infrastructure was quoted as the main reason for the delay, there may be something in this.

The concern of these teams and many roadies may be that if you have hydraulic brakes you are in for a tougher time when you are playing mechanic. Of course there’s a much bigger logistical issue with converting over a whole team to ride and maintain hydraulic brakes than there is for us to maintain such a system from the garden shed, but SRAM must be aware of this being a possible concern, as they have released a couple of videos: one on how to bleed their disc brakes and a second one showing how to bleed the hydraulic rim brakes.
