BKOOL - Video real Vuelta ciclista

BKool Online Training System

If you are prepared to think about your training and apply a bit of time to it, you can upload your own workouts or your coach’s specified sessions from a .csv file (best created using Windows Notepad or similar).

With the overall, rest and repetition times all in seconds you’ll need a calculator. Also note that when you build a workout, BKool automatically adds a warm-up and cool down to it, though you can remove these when you load each session into the Bsim software. If you are prepared to put in a bit of set-up time you will be hugely rewarded and can build your own portfolio of personalised workouts stored online.

Sessions from GPS data and multi-player

Another huge plus for BKool is being able to download GPS data of your favourite training rides and re-ride them indoors on the turbo. Even more interestingly, you can also ride the route that one of your mates has just ridden and see if you are faster than him. So for instance, rider A could do a ride down on the south coast in the morning and rider B up in Northumberland can ride that same route from ‘the comfort’ of his home that very afternoon, trying to best A’s time. Its a great social training tool.

This can lead to true multi-player rides,

either conducted in real time or as in the above example, at your convenience. There are also numerous social ‘events’ on the Bkool website that you can get involved in.

At present you can upload your own GPS data but you cannot include video footage of your own rides. However, BKool have assured us that this feature will soon be available. This will be very impressive.

All this leads us onto the Bkool social network and community, whereby BKool encourage users to give status updates, talk to each other online, arrange multi-player competitions over specified routes, and so on.

Ready made training programmes

BKool will also build up a training program for you based around set goals on the site. We like the idea of this but the goals are currently very specific time and distance based – ride X kms in Y hours for instance. These plans have been developed in conjunction with the Biomechanics Institute of the University of Valencia, so we have to assume they have a good scientific basis.

Accurate power measurement

Power figures are +/- 5% of the real powermeter figures apparently which is certainly good enough for us. Results are presented in a number of ways and take a bit of time to get used to. Initially it appears not as clear as some other systems but is reasonable once you get used to it.
