BKool Online Training System

So are we recommending BKool to you?

Aside from navigating the vast website and getting to grips with the myriad features which populate BKool.com, the only issue we found is that currently, though you can import ride data from Garmin, Polar, etc, there is no way of exporting your data from BKool.com. However, this only matters if you plan on updating multiple training logs on various sites or if you ever left BKool and wanted to move your data.

Also Spanish BKool are pitching themselves squarely against Strava, which in the English speaking cycling world is a big deal. Since using BKool we have all but ditched Strava, updating it only occasionally. But everyone we know uses Strava. In order to eat into this dominance, BKool have a bit of a mountain to climb. It is the turbo training element that really scores for BKool over its American competitor: Strava is frustratingly weak at recording indoor sessions.

However, the Strava website is refined. Plus the addictive, unrelenting King Of the Mountains competition on every single lump and bump across the world is a major draw for many. However, we don’t get Strava’s business model and see no reason to pay a monthly subscription to them; with BKool and its online library of videos and sessions, subscribing makes complete sense.

Of course the two could happily co-exist, but it will be interesting to see how well BKool does in the UK and US against Strava’s current dominance.

So we most definitely are recommending BKool, as we are already converted. It is a great addition to every cyclist’s training armoury. There is the caveat, however, that you are going to have to be prepared to put some time into the set-up of your training online at BKool.com, but we feel this is well worth the effort and for most cyclists planning training programmes will be something they are used to.

The online format, library of videos and workouts is already a deal clincher, add to that the indoors-outdoors training sessions and you have a superb training tool. Plus if you just imagine where it can go given another year or two of further growth and development; the potential of BKool is huge.
