Alé R-EV1 Hammer bibshorts preview

A brief look at the R-EV1 Hammer bibshorts from Alé. These form part of their Spring/Summer 2023 collection.

According to Alé the R-EV1 range of clothing “includes the most innovative products, built with hi-tech materials at the top of Alé textile engineering”. With thirty years experience producing cycling kit for pro and us normal riders, you can trust Alé. We have a pair of their R-EV1 Hammer shorts to try out this spring. This preview will just give you the details, while we get out and ride them!

These bibshorts use Alé’s Body-mapping system to create a fit that is based on a rider in their on-the-bike position. This should lead to a garment that feels right when you’re riding the bike. It uses their Airfix fabric in the main body. This lightweight fabric is quick-drying and offers UV protection. Airfix also offers what Alé calls mild compression while riding. Shorts with compression are claimed to help with venous return and to help minimise muscle shock when riding.

The bibs feature Alé’s 8H seat-pad – W8 HF on the women’s version. The pad uses shaped stretch microfibre to give maximum protection while on the bike. The Hammer shorts are available in black or blue in ten different sizes. Alé say the Hammer’s will “be your ally on the bike”, well we can all use a little help sometimes. I’ll see how much help they give me over the coming spring and report back. We are also trying out their Silver Cooling jersey, which is also part of the R-Ev1 range.
