From head on Wilier’s different take on aerodynamics is immediately obvious. The fork carries on up as two separate legs and the airfoil shapes guide the air around the headtube and frame. By calming the airflow the ‘blades’ reduce turbulence and minimise drag. The blades also serve a secondary purpose by reinforcing and stiffening the front end; by using two clamps, less stress is applied to the handlebars and the wider legs help stop the twisting forces applied by the rider.
