Shimano RS80 Wheels

of a long race or ride. But as a racer its hard to say which is the better option as during the race the RS80 will definitely let you know exactly what is happening underneath you at all times.

The RS80’s certainly do inspire confidence holding a cornering line well and urging you to press-on thanks to their light weight and inherent speed. They are also a nice wheel to have in your bike when all around you is deep section chaos. At a recent race it was like I had a normal mundane street car but knew about all the tech and power that lay hidden under the hood.

There is a small downside and that is the cost of replacement rims is expensive at £150 rrp. However, next to the cost of a deep section carbon rim or the non-existence of Mavic Ksyrium replacement rims, this doesn’t look too bad at all.

So who should buy these wheels? Well, if you ride hard on varied terrain and you want some wheels that can handle anything, then these will tick a lot of boxes. If you’re a chunkier rider with a bit more power and a decent sprint you’ll love the stiffness and the acceleration, meaning that they make sense for mid-week crits and for weekend hilly road races or sportives. If you are looking for an upgrade from the wheels your bike came with, you cannot go wrong and will definitely notice a big performance improvement.

Plus if its performance on the cheap you are after, these wheels certainly add up.

However, in our opinion

these wheels are so good
