almost! Although there was a small amount of brake rub when climbing out of the saddle from the front wheel, something I expected from such a lightweight set of wheels, the overall quality of construction is fantastic and the brake track surface offered excellent braking.

The bike we tested, with Team SL 33 wheels, will retail for £6499. The wheels on their own are £1899.

If you were to have the Race SL with Airstreeem’s AL20 aluminium wheels and you are looking at £4999.

Want to shave the price some more? An Ultegra set up with AL20 wheels will ‘only’ lighten your wallet by £3999.
