Epos ParkSecure Carrier
Thule adds reversing‑safety tech to its range with the new Epos ParkSecure carrier
Thule has expanded its towbar‑mounted rack lineup with the launch of the Epos ParkSecure, a new version of the Epos platform carrier that integrates its own reversing sensors. For anyone who has tried backing into a tight space with bikes hanging off the back, this is a genuinely useful upgrade. Many racks make reversing a bit of a guessing game, especially with long‑wheelbase bikes or e‑MTBs, so adding sensors directly to the carrier feels like a practical step forward.

A familiar Epos design, now with integrated sensors
The ParkSecure builds on the existing Epos platform, keeping the same telescopic arms and pivoting heads that clamp to either the frame or rear wheel. That means it still works with a wide range of bikes, including e‑bikes, MTBs, gravel bikes and commuters with mudguards or racks. Load capacity remains high at 30 kg per bike, and spacing stays at 25 cm, so bulky bikes can sit side‑by‑side without clashing.

The difference is the safety tech. Four sensors are built into the carrier and activate automatically when the car is put into reverse. A wireless in‑car unit gives audio and visual alerts, helping drivers judge distance more accurately. Thule says the system meets ISO 17386, the same standard used for automotive parking sensors.

Designed for real‑world use
Like the standard Epos, the ParkSecure is tiltable, allowing access to the boot even with bikes loaded. Thule will offer the rack in both 2‑bike and 3‑bike versions. The mounting system is unchanged, so riders familiar with the Epos will feel at home. It also folds down for storage, and the 3‑bike version includes transport wheels to make moving it around easier.

Accessories for riders who like to fine‑tune their setup
The ParkSecure is compatible with the usual Epos accessories, including the Epos Bike Repair Holder, the High Grade Lock developed with ABUS, and a foldable loading ramp. None of these are essential, but they’re the kind of add‑ons that regular travellers or e‑bike owners tend to appreciate.
Why this matters
Plenty of riders are comfortable loading bikes onto a towbar rack, but reversing with them is another story. Long days out, unfamiliar car parks, and expensive bikes hanging off the back can make even confident drivers nervous. By putting the sensors on the rack rather than relying on the car’s own system – often blocked by the bikes – Thule is addressing a real‑world problem rather than inventing one.
Availability
The Thule Epos ParkSecure will be available from April 2026. We’ll be trying to get one in for testing once samples become available, especially to see how well the reversing system works with different bike setups. If you’re looking for on-bike carriers, take a look at Thule’s InLock system.
