The Trigon XQC-01 marries a beefy carbon fork to the huge headtube

The SRAM Force BB30 chainset, with its cyclocross specific 46-36 chainrings, offers an interesting ride on the road when combined with an 11-23 cassette; given that you seem to spend a lot of time at the smaller end of the block, you feel absolutely immense, as if you have your best form, and I have to constantly remind myself that those front rings are smaller than I’m used to, rather than that I am actually flying. Still for motivational training purposes its great, encouraging you to spin along at a fast cadence.

Off-road, when mated to a 12-28 cassette, you have a good spread of gears to get you through most situations. The SRAM Force hoods are a comfortable place to be, offering plenty of leverage for the myriad of manoeuvres that you have to make, though they may seem big to those with smaller hands. The gears work well and despite my years of Shimano STi usage, I have experienced no issues; no missed gears and only minor moments of trying to change gear by moving the brake lever! The gear change is very positive and seems to suit this off-road application. I can only report pleasant surprise at how good SRAM’s second tier groupset is.

Old Selcof seatpost married to well worn, but comfy and reliable, Flite saddle seemed to be a good match for the Trigon XQC-01
