over and over again. What this has allowed us to do is just ‘go for a spin’ on the turbo in a way which we would never have done before and it is a bit of a revelation. Of course each of the video sessions can be made as hard as you like…

The extensive online library of route videos and training sessions of varying difficulty will be added to by every user, most of which you can then access. Some of these are interval sessions but many are routes created from GPS data.

Let’s have some company on my ride…

Of course its all very well setting out with the intention of ‘just having a spin’ but often the competitive instinct takes over and you have to exercise a fair degree of control not to overdo it; this is especially so if you have other competitors in the video, or if you yourself add ‘bots’ (automated competitors) into your ride, or if you do one of the Vuelta stage videos with crowds lining the route just egging you on! You are probably starting to get an idea of just how much this system can offer…

Time to get serious and do some intervals

The video library is just one element and doesn’t mean that BKool cannot be used

Bkool provides session summaries that allows you to overlay the route profile with power (as here) or speed, heart rate, etc

as a serious intervals tool, but to use it in this way you have to be doubly dedicated. Firstly you have to want to hurt yourself doing intervals, but then that is part of our sport we all know and that hurt applies to more than just using the turbo.

Secondly, you have to find the exact interval session you require and here the library on the BKool.com website, may or may not provide what you want, and it can be hard to wade through the various workout entries of other users.
