The final closure on SiDi Ergo 3 shoes is at the heel and I must admit I didn’t really get very excited about this as the benefit is not immediately obvious, until that is, I actually tried it. Its sheer genius. It tightens up above the heel cup to give you extra security against heel lift when really piling on the power. It is a really clever little feature and I have it screwed quite a way out so that it really grips my achilles tendon, providing that extra reassurance during hard efforts.

Despite there being such a large number of fastenings, set-up was relatively straight forward though as with any new shoe, fiddling with cleat position to get it dialled was the main hassle. Once that was sorted, the first few training sessions I did with the shoes, all on the turbo to allow for the inevitable fettling, went smoothly thanks to the superb comfort and ease of adjustability, with any pressure points quickly relieved.

It gives plenty of room in the toe box, and whilst it is narrow in the mid-sole, the upper is forgving enough to mould to your foot shape and actually offers plenty of support nicely maintaining foot position.
