Remerx Master Disc Wheelset
[two_third]
The Remerx Master Disc wheelset were supplied to us by Milan Sihelsky of Sihel Cycling, Remerx UK distributor from his base in Lancashire. Milan tells me that Remerx are one of the biggest manufacturers of rims and wheels in Europe, producing over 7000 units per day, though with a factory capacity capable of producing 20,000 units per day. Like many industrial factories they manufacture for other well-known brands within the cycling industry, though virtually unknown in the UK there seems to be a big demand somewhere for Remerx produced rims and wheels based on those figures.
So, aside from being aesthetically pleasing and some extra kudos points added for offering a wheel option that matches my bike, how do the wheels perform? The Master Disc wheels are every bit as bomb proof as your first impressions would have you believe. I’ve been bashing about on them since the beginning of March, where as you know the weather continued to be somewhat unforgiving as winter refused to give up its grasp.
Given the weather, and subsequently, the terrain, these wheels have undergone a thoroughly rigorous testing on the slippy, sloppy, shonky mess of flinty trails and pot holed roads. Even now as the roads and trails are beginning to dry out their general state has offered an additional test to help establish the quality, performance and reliability of the wheelset – not to mention the over the bars pirouette I performed one evening.
