‘Power under control’ is the marketing slogan for the Eddy Merckx EMX-525 and coming from the greatest cyclist ever to throw a leg over a bike you know this bike is going to be special.

 

I had a couple of hours on a beautiful sunny day to try out the EMX-525 on the quiet roads of East Sussex where i-Ride, the UK importers of Merckx bikes, have their offices. Nestled among quiet twisty lanes, with a few sharp climbs to challenge the legs, it was a perfect day for testing, even if it was too short a ride that just left me wanting more…

 

The EMX-525 is so named in recognition of Merckx’s victories, all 525 of them.     The Eddy Merckx-525 has to be my dream bike, have to start saving up for one.

      Yes I would have to agree. It does look awesome. Light frames are all well and good, but this one just seems ‘right’ – I imagine it would be superb in a sprint or similar hard effort. Hopkins certainly liked it. He told me it was the ‘most racey race bike’ he’d ever ridden.
