The Silk Road is an all year bike, light and fast enough for summer riding but with discrete mudguard mounts for winter. The frame is a new design and uses a 3AL/2.5V double butted main triangle.
With an over-sized and bi-ovalised down tube, and ovalised seat tube, plus curved seat stays, there’s a lot of thought gone into tuning the ride of the Silk Road. A machine to see you through winter training and commuting, and more than up to a summer of sportives. Depending on your choice of components, prices range from £1899 to £2999.
The September has slacker angles and longer seat stays to produce a stable bike that should be as happy on a sportive as hauling panniers over an Alpine pass. Straight gauge 3AL/2.5V tubing, ovalised at the headtube and bottom bracket helps with the frames stiffness.
Its fitted with M5 pannier mounts, which will allow you to carry up to 25kg on your rides, and increased tyre clearance that can happily run 28mm tyres. The longer seat stays allow for mudguard clearance even with such wide tyres, although you will need long drop brake calipers. The September seems to be the ideal mount for long autumn rides on less than perfect roads and being titanium, should always look good in even the worst conditions.
Monday’s Child is Sabbath’s racing machine, designed for for ‘circuit racing, crits and aggressive riding’. It uses a 3AL/2.5V double butted tubeset which is heavily manipulated to get the most out of the material. This includes a triangulated top tube, ovalised seat stays, which also have a convex curve to ‘increase ride feedback’ and put some comfort back into the rear end by acting as a leaf spring.
The headtube is CNC machined from a billet of 6AL/4V titanium to resist twisting forces. However, the most radical tube is the down tube; bi-ovalised to increase weld contact area, it uses Sabbath’s New Wave Technology to increase lateral stiffness. This gives the downtube an amazing swooping profile that really catches the eye.
