BBBCycling Karma helmet and Arc FLUX glasses review
Karma helmet and Arc FLUX glasses
Welcome to our BBBCycling Karma helmet and Arc FLUX glasses review, where we test the Dutch brand’s latest kit on the kind of mixed‑bag spring rides every UK cyclist knows well. With BBBCycling’s long history of designing gear for riders, by riders, we were keen to see how the Karma’s ventilation and MIPS system paired with the FLUX’s high‑contrast lenses out on the road.

Karma MIPS Helmet: BBBCycling’s Lightest and Most Ventilated Design
The Karma is BBBCycling’s lightest and most ventilated helmet to date. It features the new Mips Air Node system and, in our size medium test sample, weighs a respectable 270g. The helmet is available in five colours and three sizes, so finding the right shape and colour shouldn’t be a problem.

Ventilation and Fit
First impressions are excellent. The Karma has 25 vents, and airflow is helped by four small notches at the front edge of the helmet. These sit above the forehead and allow air to move underneath the padding at the front. Many helmets press directly against the head in this area, limiting ventilation, so this is a welcome detail. The padding attaches to a strip that runs all the way around the helmet’s perimeter, and runs into the ratchet dial.
This design is part of BBBCycling’s Omega fit system, which aims to create more space around the head to improve cooling.
Safety and MIPS Air Node
The Karma meets the EN‑1078 safety standard and includes the latest Mips Air Node system. Unlike earlier Mips designs with a separate yellow liner, Air Node uses padding mounted on a low‑friction layer attached with hook‑and‑loop fasteners to the helmet. In the event of a crash, this layer can move independently, helping to reduce rotational forces.

On my 58cm head, the size medium needed only a single turn of the ratchet to feel secure. The side straps sit in a plastic yoke that can be adjusted fore and aft. Hanging off these are the buckle straps, only one of which can be adjusted for height. Once you’ve sorted the fit the buckle closes with a reassuringly positive click.

On‑Road Impressions
The Karma is comfortable and feels stable on the bike. Although the UK spring hasn’t offered many warm days yet, the generous venting suggests it will perform well in hotter conditions. Overall, it’s a well‑designed helmet with thoughtful details and modern safety features.
Arc FLUX Glasses: High‑Contrast Lenses With a Subtle Look
BBBCycling’s Arc FLUX glasses are designed with a softer, less aggressive shape that suits smaller faces and looks equally at home on or off the bike. They offer a clean, understated style that many riders will appreciate.

Lens Performance
The FLUX lenses are high‑contrast, helping details stand out on bright, overcast days. Colours appear slightly more vivid in sunshine, and the lenses are rated as category 3 under the CE system, making them suitable for bright conditions. Although we haven’t had many sunny days yet, the lenses still performed well in mixed light.
The lenses also feature coatings to repel water and grease, reduce fogging, and resist scratches. These touches make them practical for year‑round riding.

Clear Lens and Case
BBBCycling includes a clear lens in the robust hard case, which is ideal for night rides or wet, gloomy weather. The case has dedicated slots for both the glasses and the spare lens, preventing rattling or scratches. The soft cleaning bag is made from recycled PET bottles, adding a small but welcome sustainability detail.
Fit and On‑Bike Use
Once on, the FLUX glasses quickly disappear from your awareness; exactly what you want from cycling eyewear. They also slot neatly into the front vents of the Karma helmet when you need to stow them. Upside down works best, and they stay put without rattling.

Final Thoughts
This BBBCycling Karma helmet and Arc FLUX glasses offer a well‑considered blend of comfort, performance and practicality. The Karma provides excellent ventilation and modern MIPS protection, while the Arc FLUX glasses deliver clear, high‑contrast vision with a subtle aesthetic. Together, they make a stylish and functional setup for riders tackling anything from spring commutes to long summer miles.
