Entries for the Tour of Cambridgeshire Team Chrono are open.
The organisers of the 2017 Tour of Cambridgeshire have added a Team Chrono event to their weekend of events. Along with the Chrono and Gran Fondo events you now have the chance ride in the first Team Chrono event. Taking place right after the individual event, the Team Chrono will feature teams of four riders racing against the clock.
Riders will be able to compete in four different categories; Male, Female, Mixed and Corporate. There are one-hundred places avaialble in the Team Chrono and if they sell out as quickly as the Chrono, you’d better get in quick! Entries opened on November 14th.
Riding on the same closed roads as the individual Chrono, riders will also use the same warm up facilities and start ramp. Sixty turbos, supplied by Rutland Cycling retail partner of the Tour of Cambridgeshire, will be available for riders to prepare themselves. Teams will roll down the official start ramp at one minute intervals.
Riders will have to use standard road bikes in this, the first running of the Team Chrono. Race Director Rowland Summerlin said: “the importance of this, in year one of this new event, is to assure safety and to level the playing field across the classifications.” So a possible hint that TT bikes will be allowed in the future?
Tom Caldwell, CEO of Golazo Cycling Limited who are the Tour of Cambridgeshire’s organisers said; “We see this new event at the Tour of Cambridgeshire as the first step towards the UK having an event to exceed the Duo Normand, the famous late season two up time trial in France which many British riders go over for. A key difference for the Tour of Cambridgeshire Team Chrono, besides the obvious number of riders in each team, is that in Cambridgeshire the roads will be closed.”
So if you fancy proving what a well oiled bunch you and your mates are, get yourselves entered for the Tour of Cambridgeshire Team Chrono. The price per team is £120 and has already opened. The pre-registration page can be found on the Tour of Cambridgeshire website.
