A preview of the Ekoi Aerocomp Thermal Suit.
After trying out some of French company Ekoi’s products in the form of their R2 Road Shoes, Ekcel Magnetic helmet and Perso Evo 2 sunglasses, I have just received their take on a cycling onesie, otherwise known as the Ekoi Aerocomp Thermal Suit.
With the temperatures dropping it’s time to wrap up, but that can lead to some bulky layers. Ekoi have produced what is essentially a full length winter skinsuit. Manufactured from a breathable and windproof material called Lombardia Miti, Ekoi say it is effective down to 5°C.
Ekoi go on to say that the fit is a “aesthetic, skinny look”, which I take to mean it won’t hide those mince pies you were grazing on over the Christmas period! Hopefully it has enough stretch in it to allow for some holiday relaxation of diet.
The one piece outfit includes a chamois, a high neck to keep out the draughts, zips at the ankles and has two rear pockets for stowing your kit. With no straps to chafe or rub, the fit should be comfortable. Speaking of comfort, the Ekoi Aerocomp Thermal Suit also allows for boys taking ‘comfort’ breaks mid-ride! The front of the suit zips down and opens like a jacket, rather than being just a flat front like a normal skin suit. This means the Ekoi Aerocomp Thermal Suit has a bottom edge to it’s ‘jacket’ top that can be pulled up, exposing the top of the tights which can be pulled down, et voila!
So with the cyclo-cross season coming to an end, it’s time to start upping my mileage and with the forecasters promising cold weather, I should get plenty of opportunity to try out my Ekoi Aerocomp Thermal Suit and it’s aerodynamic qualities, look out for me sailing past, warm and aero!
