Spiuk Brios Shoes

The sole of the Spiuk Brios is a stiff polyamide and fibreglass mix, drilled for Look or SPD type cleats. Fitting the cleats wasn’t a problem and while you’re there, you can take a look at all the ventilation that Spiuk have designed into the sole of the Brios. With all that ventilation they have included two insoles, one for cold and one for warm weather.

The cold weather sole effectively closes off the ventilation, while the warm weather one is constructed with holes to allow the air through. I was a bit sceptical about all this ‘air-conditioning’, but a ride with the warm weather inners on a cool morning proved me wrong! I could feel a cold draft coming up through the shoes; on hotter days since, when the temperature is already high it’s not so noticeable, but it’s good to know it’s there, adding to the comfort.

And comfort is where the Spiuk Brios have won me over. Whether training, racing or just riding in all weathers, the Spiuk Brios have always been comfortable. Not only comfortable, but they also match my Handsling team kit; bonus! The only slight downside are the non-replaceable toe and heel bumpers, but that’s a pretty small niggle on a shoe of this price.

All in all stiff, comfortable, roomy and good looking. The heat mouldable upper is a great feature as well. If you are tired of tight, slim, ‘Italian’ fitting shoes, then these come highly recommended.
