Wilier Triestina have a brand new aero-roadbike called the Cento 1 Air – with the ‘1’ pronounced in the Italian ‘Uno’ obviously.
The Wilier Cento 1 Air is their first fully aerodynamic road-race frame, the idea being to combine the outstanding ride qualities of the Cento 1 SR roadrace bike with the advanced aerodynamics of the Twinblade TT frame.
The frame features a smoothly integrated fork, aerodynamically efficient low rear stays, a custom aero seatpost and clamp, as well as extensive Kamm tail tube shaping to ensure that the frame cuts through the air with minimal drag.
The frame is built around the stiff BB 386 Evo system and has massive asymmetric chainstays for efficient power transfer. Geometry is almost identical to the SR.
Kevin Izzard, Product Manager for Wilier UK, said “The Cento 1 Air is a showcase for the level of great design and cutting edge manufacturing expertise that Wilier have achieved. The detail design and finish of these frames is second to none. Like all Wilier bikes, these are great handling road bikes but the Air has the added advantages that advanced aerodynamic design provides. It goes without saying, as these frames were designed in Italy, that they look sensational as well”.
The frame will be available in six sizes, five standard colours and on sale in September. No prices yet…
