With the rise of summer cyclo-cross sportive style events, such as Mark Tearle’s Ultracross, and summer cross leagues, we are firm believers that cyclocross bikes are not just for winter but are the perfect versatile, year round steeds.

Orange Mountain Bikes obviously think similarly as they have just launched a new cross bike called the RX9 and have produced a cool little promo video called ‘The Thing’ to go with it.

The Orange RX9 is built with slack angles to handle just about anything you can throw at it and the emphasis, as the video suggests, is on having fun. “The RX9 is our go-anywhere, black top or dirt track mile muncher”, Orange state.

The double-butted alloy frame has mounts for mudguards or racks. Its to be offered with 10-speed Shimano Tiagra/105 components, Avid BB5 disc brakes, Mavic A119/Shimano Deore wheelset, Easton EA50 finishing kit and an alloy fork.

The only colour is ‘carrot top orange’ – one of our favourites – and it retails for £1099.99. If you are thinking of a second or a training bike, then a cyclo-cross bike makes so much sense. Enjoy the video.
