It Blows! The Precision Air Blaster from Muc-Off
It Blows! Well, hopefully in the technical sense and not the performance way! This Precision Air Blaster might be the answer to your post wash needs, but what is it? Imagine the scene, you’ve just finished washing you bike and want to get on applying lube or frame protection. However, your bike is covered in water and it’s cold, you’re not in the sun; this is going to take ages! If only you had some way of getting the water off your bike fast. Step forward It Blows!
The It Blows! is a mini air gun – or Precision Air Blaster – designed to force dry your bike. Tucked into the “aircraft-grade CNC-machined aluminium” body is a high-speed 80W motor delivering a fan speed of up to 100,000 RPM. Or what Muc-Off call a “tornado in your hand”!
The It Blows! works by focussing that air-jet, allowing you to blast moisture out of all those hidden crevices. Places like screw or bolt heads, where water loves to sit, turning them a lovely brown. Other places like your chain and derailleurs also love to hang on to water after cleaning. Being able to quickly dry these areas, allowing you to get on with lubricating and polishing your bike sounds like a winner.
Usually I would just wait for the bike to air-dry if the weather allows. Alternatively there would be an indeterminate period of rubbing with a dry cloth. The problem is that, that would still leave some moisture hidden away; if only I could get at those places. Which is where It Blows! comes in of course.
No more scratching
If you’re a real finickity type that likes to keep your bike looking showroom-perfect, blowing your bike clean will probably help reduce micro-scratches. Rubbing a cloth over the paintwork, potentially dragging grit around, can create scratches. Not a problem for most of us, but if you are particular about your paintwork It Blows! offers an alternative.
It Blows! has four airflow settings, with the lowest setting giving you 90 minutes of run time. The internal 1100mAh battery can be fully recharged in three hours via it’s USB-C port. I don’t know long it would take to air-dry a bike, but can’t imaging it being more than 5 minutes. That would presumably, give you enough charge to blast two or three bikes on full power? We’ll have to get our hands on one and see how long a charge lasts.
