We have some shiny new products from Vel to try out.

Following on from Simon’s review of Vel’s handlebar tape and brake cable set, now we have some more items from their range to try out.

First up are a pair of Composite Race Cages. These are available in eleven different colours and are finished with a high gloss lacquer, so matching them to your bike, team kit or your partner’s eyes isn’t a problem! I went for orange, matching my bike and team kit – two out of three isn’t bad. The Race Cage comes in at 33g and includes mounting bolts.

Next up is a GPS mount, this is designed to fit all current Garmin Edge computers, I’m using Bryton’s Rider 40 which uses the same locking attachment as Garmin. The Vel GPS mount has a single bolt fixing and comes with an adapter for smaller bars.

And finally is the 18 Function Rescue Tool, this diminutive little tool should be able to deal with most roadside repairs and, as it includes a bottle opener, should be able to help you with the post ride refuel! Multi-tools are one of those ‘must have’ items for me on any type of ride, but working out how much you actually need is one of those unknowable conundrums – you don’t know what you’ll need until you do!
