A preview of the Svelte Heritage Long Sleeve Jersey.
Last year we reviewed Svelte’s Heritage Jersey, a classy short sleeved, merino jersey and found it to be perfect for summer riding. This year we have the new Svelte Heritage Long Sleeve jersey to try out over the rest of the winter.
The Svelte Heritage Long Sleeve jersey uses the same material and construction as the short sleeved Heritage jersey, but with longer arms, simple really! Svelte figured they had a good enough product that could be worn through three seasons, it just needed some arm protection for those chillier winter months. The Svelte Heritage Long Sleeve jersey comes in three colours, burgundy, green and navy, five sizes and retails for £110.
Styling is race fit – another incentive to watch the calories over the winter – and very understated. The jersey has some nice touches with a chunky trademark brass button securing one of the rear pockets and a concealed, zipped pocket for your tea money. The Danish made Merino Perform Fabric uses 36% Merino wool and should offer all the usual benefits of the this natural fibre, these being; breathabilty, moisture management, temperature and odour control.
This will be my first time trying a Merino product so I’ll be interested to see how it lives up to those claims. My early riding as a junior was all done in wool, synthetics were about, but most of us rode in wool and it was horrible! So I’ll try to be as unbiased as possible. It helps that the look and feel of the Svelte Heritage Long Sleeved jersey is completely different to those ancient items I had to wear.
Svelte’s range of clothing is produced in London’s East End, which keeps my carbon footprint low and helps keep the capital’s clothing manufacturing businesses going, Svelte doing it’s bit for the environment and employing local workers, kudos!
