I have fitted my own dropper seat post as shown in the images, though this is to be replaced with factory fitted post prior to race due to weight saving. With my faithful old Shimano SPD’s the bike comes in at bang on 14kg. By no means light compared to the multitude of sub 10kg carbon hardtails that I expect to be lining up with on the day, though I am hoping to find just reward on those long tiring descents.

the Nerve’s Fox forks should have enough travel to cope with the worst of the Alpine descents…

So far the Canyon Nerve Al 29er and I have hit it off pretty nicely, so much so that my wife has taken a particularly unhealthy dislike to it. It has shared our cabin and the back seat of the car, and been the subject of a little too much of my attention on this ‘family’ holiday. Now its off to the Cristalp and we’ll see whether the Nerve and I are still hitting it off come the end of 10 hours of pain and suffering. Providing I still possess the capacity to talk about it once it’s all over without bursting into tears or simply switching off and staring into the middle distance remains to be seen. Watch this space…
