You’ve probably heard of Fulcrum but it’s unlikely you’re familiar with their origins. The company was incorporated in 2004 by their better-known parent company, Campagnolo, who themselves offer exceptional wheel sets, but two factors constrain their market.
First, the cassette standard across the other two major manufacturers is different from Campagnolo. Both SRAM and Shimano use 10 speed cassettes with Shimano splining, at least until Shimano breaks the mould with a move to 11 speed Dura-Ace in 2013.
