Stevens Super Prestige
Maybe the least known manufacturer on the list, German company, Stevens offers a variety of options for the enthusiast. Pick a disc brake or cantilever frame, and all of your components from the website. Stevens will build and ship the bike straight to your door. The Super Prestige cantilever with Dura-Ace DI2 weights only 7.1kg; you won’t be able to blame the bike’s weight if you have to waddle up the same muddy hill at the race in the park again this year.
Giant TCX Advanced SL
The Taiwanese Giant TCX Advanced SL was developed from the top of the range TCR Advanced SL road bike for cyclo-cross mad Rabobank pros like Lars Boom. It looks slim beside some of the competition but, as with the superb road frame, it utilises Giant’s Advanced SL-grade composite frame, has the same MegaDrive downtube which promises huge stiffness (if the road bike we tested is anything to go by) and has an integrated seatpost.
Trigon XQC01
Another set of Taiwanese carbon maestros, Trigon, have built bikes for many other well known brands. Now under their own brand they produce the XQC01 which is based around their superb road racing RQC-29 and promises a stiff, responsive yet comfortable ride. A disc brake ready frame is available as well.
