Sabbath September AR-1
Will Function Follow Form?
We’ve ridden a few of the Sabbath bikes over the past year. The Silk Road and Monday’s Child are both wonderful bikes: Like these two, the September AR-1 is a meticulously welded, beautifully detailed bike. The rear brake brace alone is a work of art.
Unlike the Silk Road and the Monday’s Child butted frames, the AR-1 uses straight gauge tubing designed to manage the anticipated rough-and-tumble riding a mixed-condition bike might encounter.
The frame is close in dimensions to the old-school road standard of the favorite Austro-Daimler, featuring both a 73 degree head and seat tube angle. Paired with the ample 55 centimeter top tube in our medium example, the bike should be a comfortable cruiser.
The frame is topped off with massive tyre clearance: 35 millimeter cross tyres fit with room to spare. Throw in fender mounts, rack mounts, and a replaceable derailleur hanger and it’s clear this is a bike ready for battle over any terrain.
