Our prototype bike was well equipped with TRP cable/hydraulic hybrid brakes, Shimano 105, and a Whisky fork. The production version swaps the Whisky for a Kinesis fork, but otherwise our bike and the general release machine are very similar.

After looking it over, we were excited to put the bike in its elements. How did our dirt, road, and singletrack experiences go?

On The Road

Day 1 we took the September out for a spin around Richmond Park, our standard introductory test loop in London. We found the bike a lively partner around the well-worn 7 mile loop. The Sabbath’s slacker geometry combined with the longer top tube and 120mm stem put us in a slightly taller position than the more aggressive Monday’s Child, but in a very similar crouch to the more sportive-oriented Silk Road.

We rode lap after lap with no complaint from the back or hands. This can partially be attributed to the frame material. Like the other Sabbaths we’ve ridden, the frame is springy and energetic: It takes the edge of imperfections in the road while responding well to accelerations, imagine a really light steel bike.
