Cinturato Gravel Tyre Range

Pirelli Expands Cinturato Gravel Tyre Range with New High Performance and Performance Lines

Italian brand Pirelli has unveiled a major update to its Cinturato gravel tyre range, introducing two distinct product lines, High Performance (HP-Line) and Performance (P-Line). Pirelli say this is to better “meet the diverse demands of riders” across disciplines. The refresh includes new Made-in-Italy versions produced at the Milan-Bollate plant, offering significant improvements in materials, construction, and efficiency compared to earlier models. Below are the details from the brand’s press release, we’ll get some of the tyres in to test to see how they perform.

High Performance Line: SmartEVO GR Compound and ProWALL Gravel Technology

The HP-Line is aimed at riders seeking uncompromising speed, control, and reliability. These tyres are the first gravel models produced at Pirelli’s Milan-Bollate facility and feature FSC-certified natural rubber.

Key updates include:

  • SmartEVO GR compound: Derived from Pirelli’s motorsport expertise, this new polymer blend reduces rolling resistance while enhancing grip on both dry and wet surfaces.
  • 120 TPI casing: Offers a supple ride feel combined with durability.
  • ProWALL Gravel structure: Reinforced sidewalls adapted from Pirelli’s MTB technology, optimised for modern wide rims and tubeless setups.

Cinturato Gravel H (HP-Line)

  • Designed for hard, compact surfaces and asphalt.
  • Low-profile tread with closely spaced grooves for precision handling.
  • Compatible with hookless rims.
  • In comparison to the previous model: 20% better puncture resistance and 10% lower rolling resistance.

Cinturato Gravel M (HP-Line)

  • Built for mixed terrain, from compact to loose surfaces.
  • Medium-height tread blocks for traction, with a smooth central band for efficiency.
  • Hookless rim compatibility.
  • In comparison to the previous model: 7% better puncture resistance and 15% lower rolling resistance.

Performance Line: Proven SpeedGRIP Compound and TechWALL Casing

The P-Line focuses on durability and versatility, using established Pirelli technologies:

  • SpeedGRIP compound for balanced performance across surfaces.
  • 60 TPI TechWALL casing for puncture protection and reliability.

Models include:

  • Cinturato Gravel RH: Squarer profile with aggressive side blocks, ideal for fast terrain with mixed surfaces.
  • Cinturato Gravel RM: Inspired by MTB XC racing, designed for rocky and loose terrain.
  • Cinturato Gravel H & M (P-Line): Same tread design as HP versions but with 60 TPI casing.
  • Cinturato Gravel S: Unchanged, optimised for loose and muddy conditions.

I've riding and racing bikes since I was 12, which was a long time ago now! From the days of steel, wool and toe-clips, to carbon-fibre, lycra and clip-less, it's been an adventure on and off road, with a bit of track and touring as well. There's nothing that can't be made better with a bike ride!
