Dual-Sided PRECISION 3+ PRO

4iiii Launches New Dual-Sided PRECISION 3+ PRO

The new dual-sided PRECISION 3+ PRO power meter from 4iiii has been launched. 4iiii say it’s their most advanced power meter to date with the added benefit of Apple Find My technology. The Apple app allows you to track your cranks – and bike – if it should go ‘missing’.

As with their single-sided unit that we looked at recently, this double-sided version has a claimed +/-1% power accuracy. It also shares its single-sided sibling’s 3D strain-gauges and automatic terrain selection. Battery life is around 550 hours and comes with a 3-year warranty.

Going dual-sided means that 4iiii can add left/right balance, pedalling efficiency and torque effectiveness to the list of features. The PRECISION 3+ PRO has an IPX7 waterproof rating, vital for those winter miles in the UK. You’ll only be adding 29g to your bike and it uses a low-profile design that is compatible with most frames.

Dual-Sided PRECISION 3+ PRO ‘ride-ready’

PRECISION 3+ PRO will be available ‘ride-ready’ on Shimano Dura-Ace 9200 and Ultegra 8100 crank-sets. You can also get the power meter installed on your own cranks with 4iiii’s Factory Install service. 4iiii look to be adding Shimano XT, XTR, GRX (1×11 and 1×12), Ultegra 8000 and Dura-Ace 9100 to the list.

4iiii President and CEO Phil White said: “By adding dual-sided power measurement to our
PRECISION 3+ platform, we’ve designed a product that we’re proud to have at the forefront of
sport technology”
. Specialized were so impressed by the new power-meter that they are now fitting it to selected some of their bikes. Specialized’s Road Product Manager said: “In 2024, riders can find S-works and Pro Tarmac, Aethos, and Roubaix Shimano models equipped with 4iiii’s PRECISION 3+ PRO and PRECISION 3+, respectively. As riders ourselves, we have been impressed by 4iiii’s new PRECISION 3+ line and recognize the importance of an accurate and durable power meter. The integration of Apple Find My will bring extra peace of mind to many users.”

Meet the tester

We’ll be testing the Ultegra version with the help of Ric Stern, founder of CycleCoach. Ric has been coaching cyclists of all abilities for many years and is the guy responsible for the MAP Ramp test. So if you’ve ever suffered through one of these, you’ve got Ric to thank! He’s also very knowledgeable when it comes to the intricacies of working with power data.

About 4iiii Innovations

4iiii are a Canadian tech company that make cycling power-meters and heart-rate monitors for the outdoor and indoor cycling and fitness markets. They started back in 1999 when they invented a little thing called Ant+. After selling that technology they went on to produce various products like the Sportiiii. These were glasses that allowed you to keep an eye on your performance via a series of coloured LEDS. Since then their products have gone on to feature on “bikes who have won World Championships, Paris-Roubaix, stages of the Tour de France, and weekend warriors who consistently dominate their friends on Strava.”
