A new event has been added to the Kinesis UK Gravelcross Series.

We recently reported that Kinesis Bikes were the new sponsors of the CX Sportive series of gravel sportives. The newest addition to the series is the Kinesis CrossBones Gravelcross. As it’s a new event, we thought we’d pass on the details.

As you may know the Kinesis UK Gravelcross Series has grown to nine events. But what is a Gravelcross sportive? Well that’s easy, it’s a sportive that combines every sort of ‘road’ surface you can imagine. Throw in some mud, gravel and even the odd cobbled climb and then choose your bike. Cyclo-cross, Mtb or Gravel, it’s up to you.

This latest event is a new one on home territory for Kinesis, the South Downs. If you know the South Downs then you know that means big hills, fantastic views and wide open countryside. The event starts from the village hall in Patching, which is near Worthing.

Course designer, Phil Harrison has used his 30 years of experience to take you on a formidable loop around the Downs. He’s also quizzed local riders about their favourite tracks and the combination looks to be a great ride. As usual there will be three distances to choose from; 75, 57 or 36 kilometres. The long route will have 1500 metres of climbing with a 26% monster to test your climbing legs!

While the Kinesis UK Gravelcross Series has been designed with the new generation of gravel/adventure bikes in mind, you can ride on any off-road capable bike. The routes are varied, fast paced, challenging and exciting; exactly what you want in a sportive.

You’ll be riding over all kinds of surfaces – watch out for the green chalk! – although not that much tarmac on this event. You’ll find that certain parts of the route will suit different bikes and riding styles and that’s all part of the challenge.

If you’re not sure what type of bike would be best suited, then you could take a look at Kinesis’ Tripster bikes. Either the titanium Tripster ATR v2 or the new Kinesium framed Tripster AT. Both bikes are more than capable of handling the Crossbones event and demo models will be available for ogling!

As with all events in the Kinesis UK Gravelcross Series the route will be clearly marked for easy navigation and GPS files will also be available. You’ll also get well stocked feed stations out on the course, along with rider and mechanical support. The event base will have hot food and drink, to warm you post ride. RFID rider timing with live results will confirm your Gold, Silver or Bronze times, with medals to dazzle the family when you get home.

Full details of the Kinesis UK CrossBones Gravelcross can be found on the CX Sportive site, where you can also sign up online.
