A review of the Tile Mate.

Will the Tile Mate find your stolen bike? We take a brief look at the Tile Mate. A little gizmo that can be placed on your bike and, if the worst happens, may help the two of you be reunited.

Tile Mate is advertised to be able to find your keys, your lost phone, your potentially pick pocketted wallet, forgotten items of clothing, that elusive remote control and even your misplaced or stolen bicycle. In fact any item of anything which you have a habit or fear of getting out of touch with.

Simply purchase a Tile (from approx £23) and download the app – all neatly packaged and easily used. The design of the app has been done well. It will also send you a reminder when the Tiles need replacing once the battery runs out (usually an annual event). Extra Tiles or stickers are required for each additional object to be tagged.

The system works in reverse if you can’t find your phone. And if you really, really can’t find your object there is a Tile community you can call upon to help you, or let them know what and where you may have placed a thing in order to let them decide to help you or help themselves, presumably.

The additional Zip Strap allows one to be attached to your bike. Just where the saddle bag goes.

Undoubtably this system does a job, arguably well. At the end of the day it comes down to how much time you tend to spend looking for such items for you to calculate whether this is the solution you need. I may get one for my Mother and her glasses.
