Catlike Mixino
The choice of which of the many excellent helmets to buy is a hard one. There’s a helmet on the market out there, somewhere to suit every riding discipline, rider preference and budget, each with their own USP and distinct style.
The Catlike Mixino is evolutionary, based on the original and iconic Catlike Whisper Plus helmet, though smaller, lighter and designed with greater fit and safety at its core.
Catlike say, “The unique Catlike design characterized for crossing nerves gives a plus in safety. Any impact will share more than one nerve splitting the crash energy on many points and absorbing it in the most efficient way. The helmet has an internal Aramid fibre roll cage this material is used in aerospace and ballistic applications for its strength properties. The Aramid cage provides a higher protection in case of impact supporting the entire helmet structure. The SEPR (Shell Extended Protection Reinforcement) on the helmet brim gives protection in case of hits preventing from deterioration because of use.” Yep, there you have it!
Thankfully we don’t usually have to test helmets to such extremes usually but I can personally vouch for the protective qualities of this particular helmet. If all of this material hadn’t been between my scalp and the tarmac I do not wish to imagine the outcome; I hit the ground extremely hard, the helmet took the impact and my head was unscathed.
The Mixino is available in a vast range of colours, but since my team kit is predominately black, grey and white it was sensible to opt for the white version, in medium. At 253g the Mixino is one of the lightest available on the market.
Catlike claim that the helmet can be tailored to fit any head size and shape with their MPS eVo (Multi Position System Evolution) which optimises the fit via 4 unique adjustment points and a range of different foam pads supplied with the helmet.
