Vittoria Servizio Corse cater specifically for the Giro d’Italia’s main contenders each day
The Vittoria Servizio Corse is providing the neutral support team at this year’s Giro d’Italia, and on board their cars, there’s more than just spare wheels; they also carry three bikes and, although all white Pinarellos, they are as nearly identical as possible, in terms of the position and set-up, as they can be to those ridden by the three top contenders for the Maglia Rosa. Just in case…
Every day Vittoria Servizio Corse monitors the standings and, by agreement with the teams of the top three riders, has a spare bike ready for each of the contestants. The three bikes Vittoria Servizio Corse carries are tailored as closely as possible to each rider’s individual requirements. If any of the three leaders is so unlucky as to have a mechanical failure, and his own team car can’t come up with his own spare bike, Vittoria Servizio Corse will put him on a bike similar to his own. He won’t lose time to a mechanical, making it far less likely the outcome of the race will turn on sheer bad luck.
The Vittoria Servizio Corse is a partner of RCS Sport, and provides neutral-assistance at RCS races, like the Tour of Austria, Tour of Dubai, and the Tour de Langkawi. At the Giro d’Italia, Vittoria has deployed a team of 13 people, four cars, one motorbike, a hospitality bus, and a service van. So far at this year’s Giro 2014, Vittoria Servizio Corse has carried out about 50 mechanical interventions — an average of 3 or 4 per stage. Vittoria Servizio Corse is ever-present to support all riders in need, not just for a flat or a wheel change, but to offer a water bottle, to collect a cape, or shout a few words of encouragement.
