Some very light Spada Breva Carbon Wheels
Wales is a hilly part of the world, and the Welsh Hill Climb Champion is using Spada Wheels for his 2014 title assault
As we get into hill climb season, it won’t come as a surprise to learn that the current Welsh Hillclimb and Welsh MTB champion, Dan Evans, will be rolling along on carbon hoops…
But they are not just any carbon hoops; Dan will be aiming to retain his Welsh Hill Climb title and improve on his 6th place in last year’s British Hill climb Champs using a pair of Spada Breva Carbon wheels that weigh just 970g.
The Spadas are 300g lighter than the Zipp 202 wheels he was using previously. They feature ceramic bearings in the Spada Crystal hubs and and use a set of advanced carbon rims resulting in, not just a lightweight, but also a super smooth wheelset.
Having initially been a little skeptical about such light weight wheels, Dan says, “They feel great, very light, but really stiff too… genuinely impressed.”
This year’s British National Hillclimb Championships take place on the 26th October 2014 at 11am on the full, 1200 yard version of the Pea Royd Lane climb in Stocksbridge, Yorkshire – see Strava link – upon which Dan Fleeman, then of the Cervelo Test Team (now DigDeepCoaching.com), is the record holder.
