SRAM Force CX Groupset
[two_third]
The rear Force mech is surprisingly sophisticated with a unidirectional carbon fibre outer cage plus a magnesium inner link. This means its lightweight at 178g; as we keep being reminded every gram counts in cyclo-cross.
The Force braze on front mech weighs in at 88g and is more traditional. It’s not got the fantastic ‘yaw’ feature of its big Red brother just yet, but it’s neatly set-up for trim when in the big ring which makes sense. We’ll see how it performs.
Through this front mech we will be threading SRAM’s race proven PC1091 PowerChain and mating it to a PG1070 cassette with 11-28 ratios.
We chose a 12-28 cassette as, mated to the 46/36 front chainrings it should give us a good range of gears to deal with the most technical of British courses.
As soon as we get the position sorted and these Force components all fully fitted and working on the frame and get some miles in we’ll be back with a full review.
