BB30 installation can be fiddly but is relatively straight forward. Two rings fit into a groove machined into the shell of the BB and these hold the bearings in place preventing any movement inboard. The lack of any sleeve or trimmings means that BB30’s are very light indeed.

Once you have inserted the circlips into your BB shell, you can then insert the actual bearings. These will be tight and alignment has to be perfect, but it is relatively straightforward using a press, either specific or you can use an old style headset press with a bit of ingenuity.

We’ve been doing this sort of thing for a long time now, but if in doubt, don’t risk cocking it up; head to your local bike shop and get it done properly.
