CycleTechReview’s Contributors lay it on Santa’s table
There’s no doubt that, just as they are motivated by fitness, many cyclists enjoy the consumerism of cycling fuelled by a healthy obsession with tech. True to form, when we broached the subject of Christmas with our review team, they all jumped at the chance to get their cycling wishlists over to us. What’s the betting that this article will find its way under the nose of a few ‘other halves’ this December? Hopefully in among all of this there may be some good ideas of Christmas Presents for Cyclists for either you or a cycling someone in your life…
So just what happens when you ask a bunch of cycling-mad contributors to pick just three, realistic products that they’d like to receive as an Xmas present? Well most of them ask for more than three presents for a start! Others use it as an excuse to conduct a group test, making us think that Christmas day will be interesting in their house! Finally, most like to push it a bit and have at least one ‘dream’ product on their list as well.
Kicking off this ‘all we want for the perfect Cycling Christmas’ feature is our resident ex-pro, high mileage junkie and cyclocross obsessive, Tim Granshaw, who is looking for a nice array of kit.
He fancies a Lezyne CNC Digital Floor Pump, available in the UK via Upgrade, Lezyne digital track pump. Described by Lezyne as the ultimate high pressure floor pump, it features CNC machined aluminum construction, an ABS Flip-Thread Chuck, long rubber hose for both Presta and Schrader valves, a precise and easy to read, 2.5” oversized gauge, and an anodized high-polish finish. It retails for £99-99 in the UK and $99.99 in the USA.
Then there’s a Soigneur custom wool jersey. These very special jerseys are made of Merino wool and can be customised to include a design of your choice actually knitted into the jersey! They are not cheap at £95-£100 or $149-$158 but are certainly very special.
And finally Tim is eyeing up some Smith Pivlock Overdrive shades. They feature a two position adjustable nose piece and three sets of lenses. The glasses are ‘ergonomically adjusted to maximize integration with bike helmets’. They are also a bit less common than other brands, making them very cool. RRP is $199.
Tomorrow we find out what Mr Velomorpha, Mark Tearle, wants for Christmas…
