Are the Lake MX160 MTB shoes any good for cyclocross?
Following on from the earlier preview of the Lake MX160 MTB shoe, I’ve had a good chance to give these shoes a thorough test on my native Sussex soils and grasslands.
We wanted to see how these affordable mountain bike shoes would fair against the expensive cyclocross specific shoes which, whilst specific, state of the art and highly desirable, are arguably at odds with the way most riders traditionally begin cyclocross; ‘on the cheap’ whilst they find out if cold and mud is their thing or not…
That may be changing but a cost effective pair of mtb shoes such as these MX160s represents just the sort of shoe a novice may invest in for that first cross race.
I haven’t quite got round to racing in them, but they’ve seen plenty of action up on the Downs and gritty adventures in the forest, so let’s see how they got on… Read More >
