Preview of the Craft PB Stretch Bike Jacket
Winter’s here and it’s time to wrap up before stepping out. With most of the UK under several inches of rain water, we’ve received a Craft PB Stretch Bike Jacket. Windproof and most importantly, waterproof, the Craft PB is the final layer in Craft’s 3 layer system. According to Craft the 3rd layer is “your shield against the elements and provides comfort and performance no matter the conditions.”
The Craft PB Stretch Bike Jacket is part of Craft’s ‘Performance Bike’ collection, which is aimed at “dedicated athletes who live the sport and train several times per week”. Performance Bike sits in the middle of Craft’s three collections, the other two being Elite and Active. We are also reviewing Craft’s Siberian AB Jacket, which is part of the ‘Active Bike’ collection.
Using Craft’s Ventair X Wind fabric, the PB Stretch Bike Jacket should keep the elements at bay without the bulk of a traditional waterproof. Craft have worked with the German Sports University at Cologne, where they mapped blood flow and exercise-induced hot spots which influenced the design and material selections used in their their clothing.
Features in the Craft PB Stretch Bike Jacket include a high collar with brushed fleece inner and a zip placket to stop any chafing, plus a decent hanging loop for the post ride “where do I put my dripping jacket” conundrum! The single, wide rear pocket is zipped and has a small mesh inner pocket, just big enough for keys or change for the mid-ride cafe stop. There are a few discreet reflective patches and a silicone gripper on the bottom hem to keep the jacket in place.
Rather unusually craft have added some internal cuffs to the sleeves; there’ll be no draft whistling up your arms with those in place.
With the temperature dropping and base miles needing to be ridden, it’s a perfect time to test this winter offering from Craft, we’ll let you know how we get on.
