As far as we know, no one has produced a cross specific shoe before. Mountain bike shoes seemed to be perfectly up to the job and cross was always a minority, niche sport, so why would any shoe manufacturer bother? Now though, cyclocross is booming, the bike industry can’t get enough of it and we have three manufacturers launching cross specific shoes for the 2013/14 season. One of those is perhaps the most radical – the Lake MX331 Cross shoe.

 

Think cyclocross and you probably think of mud and running about the place with your bike slung over your shoulder. The running with the bike part has often made shoe choice err on the side of ‘flexible’.
