Martyn Ashton Road Bike Party

We’ve all seen the likes of Robbie McEwen, Peter Sagan and so on performing impressive wheelies on their road bikes. Well British trials rider, Martyn Ashton, takes these road bike antics a whole leap further aboard a Pinarello Dogma 2, as ridden by Team SKY, in this video entitled ‘Road Bike Party’…
Road Bike Party was made at various locations round the UK back in June of this year (you can tell by the complete lack any sunshine) and showcases the skills of bicycle trials rider, Martyn Ashton, of the Animal Bike Tour fame, who has been British Champion, World Champion and even held a Guinness World Record for the ‘side-hop’. This video follows on from a similar one he did to help promote Raleigh bicycles aboard their top end carbon frame.
For us there’s a few interesting points: firstly no matter how good a bike handler you think you are, you are not.
Secondly, it shows just how tough road bike frames and components are. Remember when people would say “I want to ride in town so I’ll need a mountain bike with strong wheels.”
Thirdly, so you can ride the wall of death on a bicycle!
And finally, just how ambivalent can the people in the background be when someone is doing amazing stunts in front of them? There is a distinct lack of reaction. Maybe if they’d shot this after Wiggin’s Tour win and British Cycling’s Olympic success, it would have been a different matter…
Anyway, its is great stuff so enjoy and then get down the local park on your own £10k road bike and get practicing!
